Particularly on weekends (but not only) and particularly in the clubs of Old Riga (but not only), Latvia’s most popular singers and groups strut their stuff. If Latvian music is of interest to you – you’ll find plenty of it in Riga. The people of Riga love to have a beer at one of several Irish pubs, go a bit crazy at one of many dance clubs, perhaps shoot some pool or play darts, and perhaps find one’s own true love. Perhaps you enjoy a quieter atmosphere, with fine cognac and a cigar? No problem. Perhaps the visitor seeks something a bit more piquant? No problem there, either – exotica and erotica are no strangers to the Latvian capital city. In Riga, as in any major city in the world, caution is advised at night when it comes to money and valuables. A simple suggestion: Don’t do anything on the streets of Old Riga at night that you wouldn’t do in New York or London at night.
